Is Joggo free? Not really

Short answer

Not really. Joggo is free to download, but its personal running plan needs a paid plan. As of November 2026 the US App Store lists plans from $33.00 for 1 month up to $65.99 for 12 months, and they renew automatically.

If you have scrolled Instagram or TikTok lately, you have probably seen ads for Joggo, a running app that asks you a few questions and then builds a running plan for you. The ads make it look easy to start. So, is Joggo free? The short version: the download is free, the plan is not. Here is what you get, what it costs, how renewals and cancelling work, and free apps to try first, as of November 2026.

What is free on Joggo, and what is paid

Plan updates every two weeks, treadmill mode, meal plan

From the US App Store listing and joggo.run, checked November 7, 2026. We could not find a permanently free plan on either.

Joggo is made by JOGGO UAB, a company based in Vilnius, Lithuania. According to its App Store listing, the paid plan gives you a running plan built from a quiz and a short assessment run, changes to the plan every two weeks, GPS tracking, a treadmill mode, a meal plan, medals and an Apple Watch app. It also syncs with Apple Health. Joggo’s own website is mostly a sign-up quiz, with a “Manage my subscription” link at the bottom. That is the clue: the quiz is the free part, and the plan you get at the end is the paid part.

In-app purchase prices from the US and Bulgarian (euro) App Store listings, checked November 7, 2026. The store shows several prices for the same length and does not say which is an offer. We could not open the UK or Australian listings. Plans bought on Joggo’s website can be priced differently. Prices can change.

The cheapest way to read this: one month at $33 is the most expensive per month, and 12 months at $65.99 works out to about $5.50 a month. For comparison, Runna costs $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year in the US, and Nike Run Club costs nothing (see how much is Runna? and is Nike Run Club free?).

You may also have seen a “get your money back” offer. In 2023 and 2024, The Krazy Coupon Lady reported a Joggo promotion: run or walk 26.2 miles within your first plan term, tracked in the app, and get a full refund. We could not find this offer on Joggo’s site today, so check the terms on your own checkout page before you count on it.

Auto-renewal and cancelling: read this first

Joggo’s App Store rating is good: 4.4 out of 5 from about 5,400 ratings in the US, as of November 2026. Its Trustpilot page is more mixed, with a TrustScore of 3.1 from about 1,000 reviews. The most common complaints there are about being charged when a plan renewed, and about refunds. In its replies, Joggo says that subscriptions renew automatically unless they are cancelled before the next billing cycle.

To avoid a surprise charge:

  1. Check where you paid. Paid in the app? Cancel on your iPhone: Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Paid on joggo.run? Use the “Manage my subscription” link there.
  2. Deleting the app does not cancel it. The subscription keeps running until you cancel.
  3. Put the renewal date in your calendar on the day you sign up, especially for 3- and 6-month plans.

Is Joggo worth paying for?

It can be, if you want someone to tell you exactly what to run each day and you like having a meal plan in the same app. The 12-month price works out cheaper per month than many coaching apps. It is less useful if you are a complete beginner who mainly needs a simple run-walk plan, because free plans do that job well. And if what stops you running is motivation rather than knowing what to do, a plan alone will not fix it.

Free apps to try before you pay

Free guided runs · Free

Nike Run Club

Coaches talk you through runs, and there are free training plans. It does not build a plan from a quiz, but for most new runners the guided runs are plenty.

Pick it if: you want a coach’s voice without paying.

Total beginners · Free

NHS Couch to 5K

A 9-week run-walk plan from the UK’s NHS, with audio coaching. It takes you from no running to 30 minutes non-stop.

Pick it if: you are starting from zero.

A paid plan for a race · $19.99/mo or $119.99/yr (US)

Runna

If you do want to pay for a personal plan, Runna is a well-known option with clear monthly and yearly prices, and the first week of a plan is free.

Pick it if: you have a race date and want structure.

Staying consistent · Free to download on iPhone

Run&Grow

Every GPS run grows a plant in your garden. Skip a week? Your garden waits. It reads runs from Apple Health. No public feed, no pace shaming.

Pick it if: you need a reason to keep showing up, not a meal plan.

A simple free setup works for most new runners: follow a free plan like our couch to 5K plan, record runs with your phone or watch, and use Run&Grow to see every run turn into a plant. Run&Grow reads runs from Apple Health, so a run counts in your garden if it reaches Apple Health, whichever app or watch recorded it.

Notes for the UK and Australia

Joggo sells in pounds and Australian dollars too, but we could not open those App Store listings, so check the price in the app before you pay. In the UK, the free NHS Couch to 5K app is the obvious first step, and parkrun gives you a free, timed 5K every Saturday in both countries. Curious how your time compares? See is a 30-minute 5K good? or, if a marathon is your long-term goal, is a 4-hour marathon good?
