Why a range? The App Store shows every price point the app has set up, including a yearly plan marked “no trial”. You will see one price in the app. In the US, the yearly plan is the clear winner if you stay more than four months.

Why old articles say “Runkeeper Free”

If you search this question, you will find news from 2010 and 2011. Back then there were two apps: a free one and a paid Runkeeper Pro. On 30 December 2010 Pro was made free, and by April 2011 the free app was retired and Pro was renamed plain Runkeeper, as Engadget reported. The company made money from a paid tier instead, which is the same idea as GO today.

Then, on 12 February 2016, ASICS announced it had bought FitnessKeeper, the company behind Runkeeper. That is why the app is now called ASICS Runkeeper.

4 tips before you pay for GO

Use the 7-day trial first

ASICS says your first 7 days of GO are free. Try a plan for a week before you pay anything.

Pay yearly if you stay

In the US, twelve months of monthly billing at $9.99 is $119.88. The yearly plan is $39.99, about $3.33 a month.

Set a reminder

Trials turn into paid plans unless you cancel. Set a phone reminder for day 6.

Cancel in the right place

Paid on iPhone? Cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not stop the payments.

Is Runkeeper GO worth it?

For a paid running plan, GO is cheap. Compare the US yearly prices as of October 2026:

  • Runkeeper GO: $39.99 a year.
  • Strava: $79.99 a year, for routes, segments and deeper stats rather than plans.
  • Runna: $119.99 a year, for plans that change as you get fitter. See how much is Runna.

GO makes sense if:

  • You have a race coming and want a plan, but not a $120 one.
  • You like Runkeeper and already have years of runs in it.
  • You want live tracking so someone at home can see where you are.

Skip it if:

  • You are just starting. The free NHS Couch to 5K and Nike Run Club plans are enough. See our couch to 5K app comparison.
  • You own a Garmin. Garmin Coach plans are free.
  • Your real problem is motivation. A plan does not help if you do not go out the door.

Use Runkeeper and Run&Grow together

You do not have to choose. Runkeeper can share your workouts with Apple Health, and Run&Grow reads runs from Apple Health. So you can keep recording in free Runkeeper and still watch a plant grow in your Run&Grow garden for every run. No public feed, no pace shaming, and if you skip a week, your garden waits.

Local notes: US, UK and Australia

  • US: Black Friday is 27 November 2026. We found no announced Runkeeper GO sale, so do not start a 7-day trial too early while you wait.
  • UK: parkrun is a free timed 5K every Saturday, and many runners use it as their weekly goal instead of a paid plan. See our parkrun beginner’s guide.
  • Australia: GO costs more here (from A$55.99 a year), so the free version plus a free plan saves the most.
